Tinta En Papel began in August 2017 as a six-month daily practice built around a simple rule: randomly select a verb or adjective, spend time with it, then respond once—without retracing—with one black movement on a 10 × 10 cm sheet of washi.
The movement is not an illustration of the word. It emerges from the knowledge, memories, associations, and sensations it carries. Repeated across 180 days, this minimal act transforms contemplation into gesture and gesture into a record of time. Each sheet holds a single moment; together, the works reveal difference, repetition, and the accumulated experience of a daily practice.
《Tinta En Papel》は2017年8月、一つの簡潔なルールから始まった6か月間の日々の実践です。動詞または形容詞を無作為に一つ選び、その言葉と向き合った後、10 × 10 cmの和紙に、やり直すことなく黒一色のひとつの動きで応えます。
その動きは、言葉を説明したり図像化したりするものではありません。言葉に宿る知識、記憶、連想、感覚から生まれるものです。180日間繰り返された最小限の行為は、思索を身振りへ、身振りを時間の記録へと変えていきます。 一枚一枚が一つの瞬間をとどめ、作品群として、差異、反復、そして日々の実践が積み重なる時間を浮かび上がらせます。
TINTA EN PAPEL:
RULES ／ ルール
Randomly select a verb or adjective.
動詞または形容詞をランダムに一つ選ぶ。Sit with the word for as long as necessary.
必要なだけ、その言葉と向き合う。Respond on a 10 × 10 cm sheet of washi paper with one black movement.
10 × 10 cmの和紙に、黒一色のひとつの動きで応える。No burning. No biodegradables. No ripping. No representational lines.
燃やさない。生分解性の素材は使わない。破らない。具象的な線は描かない。One go. Once the action begins, it cannot be redone.
一度きり。行為を始めたら、やり直さない。

Immediately after Tinta En Papel, the practice changes. Words give way to numbers, and the black movement disappears. Instead of marking the surface, the paper itself becomes the site of action—folded, torn, cut, scratched, pierced, or pressed. Yet throughout every intervention, the sheet had to remain whole: it could be transformed, but never separated into two pieces.
《Tinta En Papel》の直後、実践は変化します。言葉は数字へと移り、黒い動きは姿を消します。紙の表面に痕跡を描くのではなく、折る、破る、切る、引っかく、穴をあける、圧力を加えることで、紙そのものが行為の場となります。ただし、どのような操作を加えても、紙は一枚のままでなければなりません。形を変えることはできても、二つに分けることはできません。
