Sealed by Time brings raw clay and calligraphy into the tatami rooms of the Former Nakano Hanroku Residence in Handa, Aichi. Irregular clay forms are arranged across the floor, while written characters appear within their interiors. Together, earth, words, and the historic architecture create a quiet setting for inward attention.

The work developed around questions of language, time, and introspection. The unfired clay retains the direct physical presence of earth, while calligraphic writing introduces words and thought into the interior of each form. Rather than resolving these elements into a single message, Sealed by Time creates a space in which viewers can encounter them slowly—through material, silence, and reflection.
