姫島エコツーリズム
Created in 2022 during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Island Atlas brought together 77 participants connected to Himeshima—residents, people living beyond the island, and migrants—at a time when social distancing had made everyday connections more difficult. Through remote and in-person dialogue, participants shared hopes, memories, ideas, drawings, and songs, creating 29 maps that together form a collective atlas. The project showed how communication could sustain connection across physical distance, bringing individual voices together to imagine Himeshima’s future during a period of uncertainty and isolation.
2022年、コロナ禍の《島のアトラス》は、姫島に暮らす人々、島外に暮らす姫島出身者、移住者など77名をつなぐプロジェクトとして実施されました。オンラインと対面での対話を通して、参加者は希望、記憶、アイデア、絵、歌を共有し、29枚の地図からなるひとつのアトラスをつくりました。物理的に離れていても対話によってつながりを保ち、不安と孤立の時期に、個々の声を重ねながら姫島の未来を共に描く試みとなりました。

Intergenerational Dialogue ／ 世代をつなぐ対話
Participants from different generations share memories, ideas, and experiences of Himeshima around an island map.

Remote Dialogue during COVID-19 ／ コロナ禍の遠隔対話
Online conversations connected people in and beyond Himeshima, allowing memories and ideas to be shared despite physical distance.
オンラインで島内外の人々をつなぎ、離れていても記憶やアイデアを共有しました。
Mapping Together ／ 共に描く地図
Individual voices were recorded through words, drawings, markings, and gestures, gradually forming a collective atlas of the island.
言葉、絵、印、身振りなどを通して一人ひとりの声を記録し、姫島の集合的なアトラスへとつなげました。
Island Atlas Exhibition ／ 島のアトラス展示風景
The completed maps and project documentation were exhibited in Himeshima, bringing participants’ different voices back together in a shared public space.
完成した地図や活動の記録を姫島で展示し、参加者それぞれの声をひとつの共有空間に集めました。
